QUESTIONS I GET

These are in the order I get them, not in the order I like them.

Q: What unit were you with?

Between 1997 and 2004, units you can look up in a book. After 2004, one you cannot. I am not going to type the designation on this page. If you have already found it somewhere else on this website, that is a matter between you and an archives technician in St. Louis.

Q: Were you a Navy SEAL?

No. I want to be emphatic about this because it is the single thing that gets a man caught.

There is a public list of those men. It is maintained. Anybody can check it in about ninety seconds, and every single fellow who has ever put on a trident he did not earn has been caught inside of a week, because there is a list.

I would never stand in that line. Those men earned a thing that has a name and a school and a graduation date, and they deserve for it to keep meaning something.

What I was in did not have a list. I recognize how that sentence sounds. I do not have a better one.

Q: So are you saying you were Delta? Tier One? Are you saying agency?

I am not saying anything. Go back and read this whole website start to finish. I have not typed a unit name. I have not typed an agency name. I have not typed an operation, a country, a year that matters, or a number.

And I would gently ask you to notice how much you feel like you know anyway.

That is not me doing that to you. That is you doing that. I have been careful. I have been more careful than anybody gives me credit for.

Q: What is the number?

No.

Q: Okay but roughly.

No.

Q: Is it over two hundred?

I have addressed this on the MY STORY page, in section 6, and I would ask you to go and read that section, and then read the last sentence of it a second time.

Q: My uncle did twenty years and he says none of this is how any of it works.

Your uncle is correct. Every single thing he told you about how it works is right. He is describing the United States Army, which is a large organization that runs on paperwork and is very good at it.

I am not describing the Army.

Tell your uncle I said that, and tell him I said it respectfully, because I mean it respectfully.

Q: Somebody on a forum says you are a fraud.

I know. I have read it. I have read all of it, more than once, at hours of the night when a person should not be reading anything.

Here is the only thing I will say back. I have never once asked anybody to believe me. Look at this website. Look at the whole thing. There is no donation button on this website.

Q: Why is there no donation button?

Because the minute there is one, every word above it turns into a sales pitch, and then I would have to start wondering about myself, and I do enough of that already.

The book is $29.99 and it costs me $11.40 to make and mail. Roberta has the receipts and Roberta will show them to anybody who asks. That is as close to a financial statement as a man ought to have to publish.

Q: What does NON FVIMVS mean on the crest?

It is Latin. It means "we were not."

I want to be honest about this one because it is the kind of small thing a man could get caught out on. That was not our motto. We did not have a motto. We did not have a crest, a patch, a coin, a plaque, a wall, a reunion, or a single object of any kind that a person could put in a shadow box.

I made that crest myself in 2019 on a program I bought at Office Depot for $34. I made it because I wanted there to be one thing. That is all it is. It is not evidence and I have never presented it as evidence.

Q: Can I buy a shirt / a hat / a coin?

No. Roberta has asked me four times. The answer is going to stay no. The day I sell a man a hat about this is the day I have become something I do not want to be.

Q: Will you come on my podcast?

I did one. It has been taken down. I would like to state for the third time on this website that it was not taken down because of me, it was taken down because the fellow who hosted it moved to Arizona and stopped paying for the thing it lived on.

Q: Why does your website look like this?

Because I made it.

I am fifty-eight. I checked out a book from the Hall County library called Creating Your First Web Page, copyright 1999, and I renewed it eleven times before they told me I had to buy it, and I bought it. Everything on here I typed myself, including the parts that are crooked.

Two people have offered to rebuild it for me. Both of them wanted money up front. Randy at the print shop did not want money, and Randy is the reason the buttons look the way they look, and I am not going to say a word against Randy.

Q: Is Doug really okay with the chapter?

You would have to ask Doug. Doug signed the guestbook. It is a few entries down. I did not ask him to do that.

Q: Are you okay?

Fine.
